Valentine’s Day, time for a candlelight dinner.

If you’re looking for something different this year, why not take a look at how this occasion is celebrated in the rest of the world?

Join us on a trip to discover Valentine’s Day around the world!

A selection of great recipes and spectacular dishes, for a travelling Valentine’s Day menu that’ll take your breath away, as well as winning over your heart.

USA: everyone’s invited!

In America, Valentine’s Day is very much a family affair.
Traditionally, it’s not just lovers who celebrate their bond, and the exchange of little gifts extends to parents, grandparents, classmates and teachers. It’s especially exciting for the kids, who prepare cards and little shows. A nice way to celebrate is to gather the whole family round the table to share some food lovingly prepared for the occasion.

Guatemala: Día del Cariño

The 14th of February is also celebrated in Latin America by exchanging cards and wishes. Valentine’s Day is known here as Affection Day, a unique opportunity to show friends how much we care. And what could be nicer than sharing a lovely dish of pasta with tomatoes?

Canada: Secret Valentine

The Secret Valentines are anonymous greetings cards sent on Valentine’s Day to surprise the one you love. This tradition dates back to the 15th century, when Charles, Duke of Orléans, imprisoned in the Tower of London, wrote a love letter to his wife, calling her “ma tres doulce Valentinée”. This custom remains alive in Canada, on the day reserved for lovers. And there’s nothing more unexpected than a recipe like black lasagne with cuttlefish sauce. Surprise effect guaranteed!

Japan: Girls, it’s your turn!

According to Japanese tradition, it’s only girls who give gifts on this day, while all the guys have to do is gracefully accept and unwrap the chocolates, enjoyed not only by their boyfriends and husbands, but also by all their friends and colleagues. The girls will have to wait for March 14th, White Day, when it’s their turn to receive some delicious white chocolate. For all you guys who can’t wait that long to return the affection of your loved ones, try winning the girls over with an aphrodisiac like chocolate.

Germania: Good Luck!

German Valentine’s Day is truly original, and the gifts given are usually linked to the ancient Germanic culture, such as the figure of the pig and the four-leaf clover.
So choose some pork cheek for a tasty, creative dish, and good luck!

The perfect idea for an original, lip-smacking menu!
