The soup good for the brain

Tomato soup, known as Pappa al Pomodoro in Italian, is a low cost dish of Tuscan tradition, made popular in Italy by Luigi Bertelli, writer and journalist native of Florence, with "Il giornalino di Gian Burrasca Il giornalino di Gian Burrasca" written in 1907.
The novel entitled “La pappa al Pomodoro” became popular first in 1943 with a film directed by Sergio Tofano, and then broadcast through what we would now call a TV series in 1964.

The direction of the musical series was entrusted to Lina Wertmüller, an Italian director and scriptwriter - the first Oscar nominee -who also “signed” the theme song, written by Nino Rota, one of the greatest composers for the big screen, whose skills were sought after by extraordinarily famous directors such as Fellini, Monicelli, Visconti and Francis Ford Coppola.

The song "Viva La Pappa Col Pomodoro” was sang by a very young Rita Pavone who played the role of Gian Burrasca. It was a true hit so much so that Pavone was requested to star in several musicals for the foreign market, such as "The Man Who Makes The Music" for the UK and "Ich frage meinen Papa" for Germany.

Comfort food… healthy food!

Like all the foods of the tradition, Pappa al Pomodoro is a dish that brings back memories of the hearth, of the family, a food that gives joy and warmth.
This is a prerogative of comfort food, which, thanks to its effects on the nervous system, helps reduce emotional stress and feel an immediate sense of well-being. But there is more to it!

Pappa al Pomodoro is a full, nourishing and healthy meal that embodies the best of the Mediterranean Diet, a UNESCO World Heritage.
Garlic, basil, carrots, onions, extra virgin olive oil, Tuscan bread and tomato.
