Yummy Yummy! Good for Tummy!

Good and healthy is a prerogative of the Mediterranean Diet. Let’s discover it, together with our top five best recipes!

The Mediterranean diet is based on a balanced nutritional diet, that captured the attention of scientists and researchers thanks to its low incidence of illness, in particular cardiovascular diseases, shown in several areas of the Mediterranean.

Among the main supporters of this model are the American biologist and physiologist Ancel Keys and the Italian nutritionist Flaminio Fidanza, authors of the "Seven Countries Study", a longitudinal epidemiological study (started in 1952) which demonstrates the correlation between nutrition, lifestyle and incidence of diseases.

Considered one of the healthiest and most balanced, the Mediterranean Diet has become part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (in 2013). A heritage shared by Italy, Greek, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

Its main ingredients are: fruit, vegetables, whole grains, olive oil (unsaturated fats), nuts, potatoes, legumes, eggs, fish and white meat, milk, dairy products and - to a lesser extent - red meat, saturated fats of animal origin often co-responsible for the onset of diseases.

Great food and health with the Mediterranean Menu!

As an appetizer, Seared squids à la puttanesca! A delicious appetizer – beautiful and delicious – that includes some of the top ingredients of the Mediterranean diet: garlic, oil, tomato, olive, parsley and basil!

The flag dish, foundation of the Mediterranean diet is Pasta!
We recommend its organic, whole wheat variety, with tomato, pecorino cheese and parsley, renowned for its diuretic and detoxifying properties.

To continue your journey in the Mediterranean flavors, we recommend a light second course, easy to make. Sicilian style swordfish, rich in vitamins, minerals and omega-3, essential fatty acids that help prevent cardiovascular diseases and high cholesterol.

On the Mediterranean table vegetables are plentiful.
For example Fricò, a traditional side dish that hails from different territories, that we recommend and that includes onions, eggplants, bell peppers, tomato and in season squash, preferably organic.

To finish, a delicious tomato sorbet, perfumed with one of the most popular and aromatic herbs in the Mediterranean: basil!

This original dessert is nutritious, refreshing and easy to digest!
